Fábio Barbosa named new CEO of Abril
Abril Group has announced that Fábio Colletti Barbosa will join the company on 26 September 2011 as its new CEO.
Giancarlo Civita, who during the last six years held the operational command of Abrilpar and the executive presidency of Abril will become vice chairman of Abrilpar, a holding company of the Civita family that controls Abril (media, printing plant, and distribution) and has the stock control of Abril Educação, in addition to a series of other enterprises. Giancarlo will be responsible for the holding operations, and will work closely to his father Roberto Civita, chairman of Abrilpar.
Roberto Civita said: "Besides being an extraordinarily competent executive, Fábio is known for his integrity, his good relationship with people, and his commitment towards a fair country, more developed and under a better administration. His arrival will strengthen Abril in all dimensions; it is a benchmark in the professional optimisation of the Group and secures the maintenance of our values and the constant search for excellence.”
Barbosa, 56, has previously worked at Abril Group as a member of the board of directors from March 2004 to February 2007. He was previously CEO of Santander in Brazil.
